MIUI have at last officially released their launcher on to the Play Store for free. This isn’t an upload by a third-party, this is from the guys behind MIUI. If you didn’t know already, MIUI is a huge player in the customisation scene for Android, and transforms Android entirely, adding a whole new look. It does have an iOS-like touch but still uses Android’s amazing functionality. MIUI launcher also gives you the ability to add thousands of themes to your homescreens and icons, most of which are also free. Enabling you to highly customise your device.

How to Run Applications as Administrator in Windows 8

How to Run Applications as Administrator in Windows 8 :

Windows 8 has many new features when compared to the older versions of Windows and one of the main additions is the new start screen with metro UI. The start screen provides you with live updates and also easy navigation. Now what if you wanted to run an installed app as administrator? In the previous startmenu, you could right click on any app and then select Run as administrator. So how do I run the app as administrator in Windows 8.

Windows 8 start screen also has a similar right click option available for all apps which allows you to run the app in admin mode. To do this, right click on any app in the start screen and you get a bottom bar where you have few options.

You can see an option Run as administrator in this bottom menu. Select this option and the selected app will run as administrator.

Other than options to run as admin, there are other options like uninstalling the app, unpin from start,taskbar, open file location etc.

How to Shutdown, Restart, Log Off and Hibernate Windows 8 :

With the release of Windows 8 Consumer preview, most of the feature which will be available in the next version of Windows is clear. Going forward, Windows will have the new start screen along with host of new features. If you are yet to try out the new start screen, you can check out our guide on getting started. The new start screen also make many features hidden or location changed. Shutdown, restart, log off commands are one such feature directly missing from new start screen.

If you still figuring is hard to find out these options here are some screenshots to help you. To shutdown, restart or hibernate, press Win + I to bring the Charms (you can also bring it by hovering the mouse on thebottom right corner and clicking the settings from the sidebar or charms). Inside the charms, click on the power button and you can see the options to Shutdown, Restart and Hibernate.

Please note that Hibernate will be available only if you have enabled it in the Power settings. Related Reading: How to Enable Hibernate in Windows 8.

If you just want to sign out or lock your PC, you can click on the profile picture in the start screen and proceed from there.

Another option is to press ALT + F4 from the desktop and this will not work on start screen. You need to make sure that all other apps are closed.

You can shutdown, restart, sign out, switch user and also hibernate from this option.

Windows 8 Consumer Preview is now available for download and if you are trying out Windows 8 for the first time, you will probably be confused with the new start screen, which replaces the traditional start menu in earlier versions of Windows. The new start screen comes with metro UI styled boxes and each of them represent an app or settings. You can pin any application or settings on to the start screen. More details on the start screen is available here.

In this article, we will describe how to get started with the start screen including pinning apps and managing them. The start screen as we mentioned comes with tiles and many of these tiles have kive updating (for emails, messages and social sites).

You can click and hold any tile and move it to rearrange the list, if you want tiles to be arranged according to your priority. You can right click on any tile and this pop ups a option bar at the bottom which has options to unpin the item from start menu or make it smaller in size (or larger) and also stop or start live updating.

You can select multiple tiles by right click and then remove all of them in one go. You can uninstall an app from the options, if you select the particular app alone.

Certain apps installed on Windows and pinned to Start screen will need to be run under admin rights and such apps will have option to do so by right clicking on them and selecting it from the bottom options bar.

Moving the cursor to the bottom right corner brings in the Charms, which is actually a quick access menu for search, share, devices and settings.

You can also view the list of all installed apps on Windows 8, which includes apps not pinned to the start screen.

Another neat feature of the start menu is that you can start searching for the app directly by typing from the start screen without having to open search.

From any screen or app, you can easily switch to start screen either by clicking the Windows Key on thekeyboard or clicking on the bottom left corner.
